An aluminium starter intermediate bearing for Iveco trucks, one of SAJ's own designs, code SP 115.

In heavy-duty starters the shaft takes a high load when the pinion engages the flywheel, and the intermediate bearing stops it from flexing or running out of true. A worn bearing bush lets the pinion engage poorly, often with a grinding noise.
